FRB: How did you get into climbing, Coop?

Cooper: I quit playing soccer and my mom was concerned that all I was doing was listening to White Zombie and Marilyn Manson, so she made me try a new sport; I was hooked.

FRB: Where do you usually like to climb, Coop?

Cooper: The dirty South.

FRB: So you kind of quit climbing. Why?

Cooper: I've been doing it non-stop for 9 years and the flame just kind of disappeared. Just ready to move onto something else; it feels kind of liberating.

FRB: Are you going to get back into it at some point?

Cooper: I doubt it, but who knows?

FRB: What are you doing for an adrenaline fix?

Cooper: Surfing!

FRB: You just came back from a world climbing /surfing trip.
          Tell us all about it.

Cooper: Fucking unbelievable! First 3 months I spent bouldering in paradise, AKA, Rocklands. Then a month of perfect granite in Switzerland. Then deep water soloing in Spain. By then I was getting sick of climbing, so I visited a good friend in Israel and had the time of my life. Then a month of surfing in California, then another month of waves in Indonesia. Absolutely sublime; I feel very lucky that I got to go to those crazy places.

FRB: What about the early days?
Tell us about your college lifestyle
          experiences?

Cooper: College is fun. Girls, booze, grades, food, and laughs.

FRB: What do you do for a living, Coop?

Cooper: Part time video work for Big Up Productions.

FRB: What is the typical day in the life
          of Cooper Roberts?

Cooper: Wake up everyday to some reggae… Class…. girl…. Lunch with friends… Swimming/jacuzzing at the Boulder Outlook…. Finish with wine/music.

FRB: Tell us about some of the high points of your life.

Cooper: Every fucking day, pal.

FRB: What about the future.
What long term plans do you have?

Cooper: I'm trying not to think more than 6 months ahead. Until then; its gonna be school and surfing in Central America. Maybe med-school one day, but hard to say.

FRB: How do you want to be remembered
          in the climbing world?

Cooper: I could give a shit if I'm remembered.

FRB: How about your ex-girlfriends...
What would they say about you?

Cooper: That I was too hard to handle in bed.

FRB: When it's all said and done...
What are some of the most important memories
          or experiences in your life?

Cooper: I've had too many "wow, this is the best day of my life" moments to pick a few to talk about. All I can say is that most of them revolved around the people I was with; not a place or activity.

FRB: What would you say to someone
          just starting out in climbing?

Cooper: Go deep!!!

FRB: Final sage words of wisdom, Coop.

Cooper: "The love you take is equal to the love you make." –The Beatles

FRB: Thanks for the interview, Coop.

Cooper: No problem.
